Your Spring Home Maintenance Guide

Home maintenance doesn’t need to be a hassle! As the season changes, it's the perfect time to give your home the attention it deserves. We'll walk you through a spring maintenance checklist to be sure your home is in tip-top shape for the warm months ahead.

Let's start from the top – your roof!

Grab a pair of binoculars and take a quick walk around your property. Look for any signs of wear and tear, like missing shingles or curling edges. Don't forget to check those hard-to-reach spots! A little check now can save you from major headaches (and hits to your wallet) later.

Next up, it's time to tackle those gutters!

Clogged gutters can lead to water damage and furry invaders making themselves at home. No one wants a family of squirrels making a nest in there! Grab your gloves and a sturdy ladder and clear out any leaves and debris that have gathered over the winter months. (But remember—safety first!)

Show Your Siding Some Love
Take a close look for any cracks, warping, or signs of mold growth. A quick cleaning with a mild detergent can help keep it looking fresh!

Trim the Excess Branches
Take a walk around your property and trim back any overhanging branches that could cause trouble for your roof or siding. While at it, check for any gaps or cracks that pests could use as entry points. A little bit of caulking can go a long way in keeping unwanted guests out. We don’t want raccoons in the attic, now do we?

Fun fact: Raccoons can squeeze into openings as small as a tennis ball (4 inches)!

Don't Forget About Ventilation
Check your attic vents for any blockages or damage, and make sure they're providing proper ventilation. Good airflow can help prevent moisture-related issues like mold growth.

Flashing and Sealants
Finally, pay attention to the flashing around chimneys, vents, and skylights. These help to keep water out of your home, so it's important to keep them in good shape. Replace any damaged flashing and reseal as needed to prevent leaks.

By tackling this to-do list now, you can cut down on avoidable repairs later!
